pls tell me any one differnce between file to idoc and file to rfc scenarios
under what business factors we will go for specific scenario.pls kindly tell me reason
Hey
both IDOC and RFC serve different purposes.
IDOC is mainly used for async communications whereas RFC is used for sync communications(you can ofcourse use RFC for async communication as well).
RFC is not a data container,it calls a function module which gets executed.
IDOC on the other hand is a data container,it holds the data(infact a copy of data).
Thanx

Hi Srinivas,
File to IDOC is for Asynchronous process. i.e. we send the request and don't wait for ant response from SAP R/3.
File to RFC can be Synchronous process. when we are mapping response from RFC to some other file.
