Hi
Below is the list of t-codes that we use daily to perform BASIS monitoring tasks,
ST06,OS07,RZ20,SM13,SM21,SM37,SM50,ST02,ST03,ST04,DB02,ST22,DB16,SCOT,SP12,SM12
We are performing the above T-codes in about 4 instances daily to check the health of the R/3 systems. This activity is taking much time and effort for us. To reduce the time and increase productivity, we have decided to automate the BASIS monitoring process by writing ABAP program to execute all the above T-codes 1 by 1 and download the data So that BASIS can spend min time in this activity.
In next 1 year, we are planning to go for 46C to ECC 5 upgrade. I would like to know in the new ECC series whether any automation feature is available for BASIS monitoring. What are all the above T-codes can be configured in RZ20 so that we will get a alert if something goes wrong and cross the threshold value?
If automation feature is available in ECC then we will eliminate those T-codes from the current automation program.
Does any one already done the BASIS monitoring automation? Please share your valuable experience on this regard.
Best regards,
Vinodh.
Hello Vinod,
Let me know what kind of automation you are looking for?
You want a dashboard view of all these?
I have solution for this but I am not so sure what kind of automation you are looking for.
I can guide you how to fetch these information and draw a graphic representation of them.
Let me know.
Yes for sure Solution Manager has his but you need to do lot of settings. As it again depends on CCMS agent availability. If in case your CCMS agent on system fails then you will not get the data.
Think over it if you need some help I can help you in fetching data every minute.
Thanks & Regards
Vivek

Hi Vivek,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, If I get the dashboard view of all the above t-codes with a graphic representation then it would be fine.
My concern is, we are executing the above T-codes in all our 4 instances. We are downloading the data to our local pc for future comparision.
If you have any sample report, please send me the snap shot and I will let you know whether that will serve my purpose. My email id is <email address removed by moderator>
Thank you so much for your help.
regards,
VInodh.

Hello Vinodh,
My suggestion is to set the alert notification if there is an alert in RZ20 (can monitor the whole system)

Hi Vinodh,
We've just completed a similar upgrade 46C to ECC6 and now use Solution Manager to monitor our systems
There's some work to do in configuring it but since Solution Manager is now mandatory you may as well get some benefit out of having it. The Early Watch alerts are particularly useful I find. It can act as a central store of all RZ20 info of the remote systems
Also the new dbacockpit (in BASIS 7 sp12 the old DB02, DB16 etc are replaced) is meant to be able to monitor all your remote databases
Also Sol Man diagnostics is there to help with all the new java stacks that you'll no doubt be getting too

Hello,
First, you have already decided to go for upgrade.
Instead of going ECC 5 , go for ECC 6.
Second, for your automation, SolMan features like help desk, maintenance optimizer, etc...will resolve your purpose here.
Check this...for more information in this regard.
