In a http-XI scenario, in moni i can see Error_Category as BPE_ADPTER
what is BPE_ADPTER error,

Go thru this SAP note: 807640
Reasons are many:
1) Inactive version of Integration Process during runtime
2) Error in the previous workitems( you can delete this from SWWL transaction)
3) Cache problem

It means that when you are sending to a PE, i.e. to a BPM, it failed in BPM engine. Go into PE of the message and then check the error and resolve it.
