Hello, I am trying to find some information as to what we would need to consider moving the system time to Universal Common Time. We are consolidating instances and are looking to eleminate the need for an outage for time changes.
Due the opposite time shifts between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres with DST, the current server time (GMT+DST) would require the servers to be brought down twice annually for time adjustments. Moving to Universal Common Time (which is GMT w/o DST) would avoid taking the SAP Servers down for this time adjustment process.
Has anyone here made experience with such a switch? What are the impact areas and pitfalls?
Thanks
Stefan
As a quick shot I found
Note 198411 - Current data and information about time zones
and an attachment with an explanation, how the SAP systems(s) calculate their times. There's indeed not much docs about that.
I suggest though opening an OSS call because SAP knows best, what consequences that will implicate.
