Hi.

First, you need to know what is the output device name being used for printing, let say ABC5. Then you ask the user when was the last time a successful printing was done and if there were any changes done afterwards as to terminal settings and printer config. Try asking the user if he can indeed print on OS level either through word processor or spreadsheet programs. If yes, then the problem may be with SAP. If no, then you may need to check printer driver, if printer is set as default if incase the device is hosted by his terminal. You may want to check also the firewall setting and ensure that port 515 is allowed as well as SAPLPD and SAPLOGON.

For a yes finding, you can go to SPAD to check for the device settings. Get from the user the model of the printer, IP address if network printer or for the host PC where the printer is attached. From here, you may need to countercheck the settings if indeed there was a change made. If change is seen, then do correct or update as necessary. For changed IP, be sure to enter the correct IP and hostname at SM55 and at the host file of the spool server. You may also check if a correct device type is used. For Epson, you may use SNI9014 to check while for other Windows printers like HP. you may use SAPWIN. Ensure also that you are using the correct host spool access method. You may use frontend printing if you intend to use your locally set default printers while using SAP protocol is fine with Windows when you are to maximize the use of SAPLPD. To check, you may run, TELNET 000.000.000.000 515/TCP (use the IP of the terninal where the printer is attached). Check then if there are entries displaying on your SAPLPD. If entries are sent, it means that communication is established. Otherwise, you may need to check connection. If connection is okay, then perhaps you may need to have youre SAPLPD reinstalled. After identifying settings via SPAD and checking if indeed the spool server used is up and running, you may save the settings and issue NIRESET/REACTIVATE. Then do a test print. You may want to check also SP01 to specifically check why the failed printjob failed. Basically, this is the process done but this can cycle through to isolate an issue. Thanks.
