Nw2004s Installation issue

Hi,

I'm trying to install NW2004s on Linux AS 4 with Oracle 10g database. Currently I'm at the 28th phase - Start J2ee engine. The installation stopped with errors. I checked the logs in /usr/sap/<SID>/JC00/work and the jvm_bootstrap.out file shows:

When I checked in the /usr/sap/<SID>/JC00/j2ee/cluster folder i could only see the bootstrap folder but I couldn't see server0 and dispatcher folder.

Does this mean that the j2ee engine is not completely installed???

Hi Ajay,

Yes, My problem is solved. There may be 2 reasons why this problem arises:

1. JDK version 1.4.2_14 didn't work with Red Hat Linux AS 4.0 for me. So I changed the JDK version to 1.4.2_12.

2. The J2EEINSTALL.SAR file sometimes doesn't uncar properly so uncar it manually.

go to the install dir (/tmp/sapinst_instdir/NW04S/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/install)

- unpack the J2EEINSTALL.SAR via

/sapmnt/FND/exe/SAPCAR -xvf /sapcd/java/J2EE_OSINDEP/J2EE-INST/J2EEINSTALL.SAR

Hi,

I'm not sure if this helps but I've successfully installed SRM 5.0 on Linux Red hat 4 on a 32 bit box. Am running java version "1.4.2_14".

Couple of helpful OSS Notes are 723909 and 716604.

As per 716604 I downloaded and installed - SUN JSE 1.4.2 32BIT LINUX REDHAT EL4/IA32 32BIT.

I've checked your Env variables and they look all right, similar to mine.

Are you on Linux? I never got 1.4.2_14 to work on 32bit Linux, it immediately fails (just what you see). Any chance of using 1.4.2_12?

Also check your heap size, 512 MB is too less for a 7.00 system. You can change that using configtool.

Though, I HIGHLY recommend switching to a 64bit system.

Can you suggest the chages that I need to make in the configtool as far as heap size is concerned.

I checked in SAP note no. 997510 where in it said to check for the driver path in the secure store (configtool). I think if I'm able to figure out the bootstrap issue then I'm through ......

maybe... Java is indeterministic

What do the other logfiles tell? Anything valuable in there? (log_bootstrap*)?

I think we still haven´t found the real error.

Do you use Oracle instantclient 10.2.0.2?

Yah I'm using Oracle instant client 10.2.0.2.

Did you check the note 997510 ?? Did you find anything meaningful in it related to driver path details? I checked everywhere and I found the RDBMS:Client location correct in the system i.e /oracle/client/10x_32/instantclient/ojdbc14.jar

I'm sorry - I don't have any other idea beside checking if 1.4.2_12 does work. As I told you, I was never able to get _14 working (seeing the same error as you).
