What is SNP Horizon and SNP Stock Transfer Horizon? When is CTM is used?

What is SNP Horizon?

where Supply Network Planning stops and Production Planning & Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) begins.

What is SNP Stock Transfer Horizon?

the number of days, beginning when the heuristic run is initiated, during which the system does not plan transfers. The system does not generate planned distribution receipts within this horizon but postpones them until the first day after the stock transfer horizon

When is CTM is used?

CTM Is used in following scenarios

1) when creating a feasible plan for fulfilling the highest priority demand first.

2) When the demand is prioritized and there are demand specific supply strategies in place.

3) Finite capacity planning where capacity is a constraint so for that purpose RCCP or infinite capacity and infinite material simulation run is performed.

Hi Raj,

I would like to correct in this case, that SNP Production Horizon and SNP STH is not only valid for SNP Heuristic but also for SNP Optimiser.

For CTM the Link given in the earlier replies is of Gr8 help as it will give you some idea of the Planning Process...

Based on my practical experience, one would use CTM for handling material constraints in the supply chain - something that Heuristics does not handle very well.

Hi Raj,

1. SNP production horizon - The SNP heuristic does not create any Planned Orders in that horizon.

2. SNP Stock Transfer Horizon - The SNP heuristic does not create any Planned Receipts in that horizon.

Hi Raj...If SNP horizon is set in the master data, then no production is planned for the period mentioned in this field. Similarly for stock transfer horizon, stock transfer doesnot happen during this period.
