use of global definitions

i want to know the use of Global definitions in smartform.I have declared a variable in global data. I want to print the value passed to this variable.plz support with an example.

Global varibles in smartforms are used to manipulate data passed by the ABAP program ,data from program can assign them to global varibles to convert in requisite format,

In global variables u can declare:

workarea,varibles of any type/data element

global definitions in smart forms, the value last for entire program..

you can define internal table and variables etc and assign values and call them anywhere in you smart form,
