.cds files in saparch directory

Hi all

There are .cds and .dbf files in saparch directory, .dbf files are removed (leaving 2 days files) after backup but .cds files are still there since may 31st.

what is the reason.

<b>cds</b> is one of the function ids brackup/brarchive etc. create

cds = Second backup and deletion + first backup of archivelogs

how long these files will remain or forever

the logfiles (*.cds) will remain as long as you keep them...if do not need them any more, delete them...BUT...as SAP states:

<i>Creates a second copy of offline redo log files which were already archived. These are

then deleted and archiving of the newly created offline redo log files is begun.</i>

and...

<i>The program will only delete offline redo log files if they have already been successfully archived or copied.</i>

so if you're working with option -cds keep in mind that a second copy of the archive logs will be made...do not delete the logfiles to soon or switch to option -sd for example...

CDS fiels contains brarchive logs (that means the text you see on the screen when executing brarchive).

CDS files will remain there forever unless you do one of the followings:

1. run DB13 job CLEANUP LOGS

2. run brconenct -c -u / - f clean

3. delete them manually at OS level.

option 1 is probably the best.
