Hi guys,
I am doing a practice on Web Dynpro coding. But when I finished I cannot use the "Deploy new archive and run" function in the context menu of application.
It says "Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly ". I try to configure this sdm or engine problem but I dont have idea.
My Portal login URL is like "http://practice:50000/irj/portal", and I have install JDK in my PC.
How do I set the SAP J2EE Engine in Preference dialogue? This J2ee Engine is the same thing with the SDM/Engine above or not?
Could you please tell me how do I configure my SDM and Engine?
Since every time I have to upload my ear files to Portal Server to test it. That very slow and makes me headache.
I have tried to find answers in help doc, but still cannot make clear with it, thanks a lot.
Regards,
SAM
Hi Sam,
Go to:
Window -> Prefrences -> SAP J2EE engine -> Here Enter the values of Message Server Host and Message Server Port.
You have to enter the SDM host as the name of your J2EE server with the port.
After that you problem will be resolved.
Thanks,
Suvarna.

Considering the URL <b>http://practice:50000/irj/portal</b>
In the <b>prefrences ---> SAP J2EE Engine...</b>
put application server as "<b>practice</b>"
you have to get the SDM port number and password from your system administrator . its a 4 digit port number..... for eg:- 3903
the port number in the URL i.e. 50000 is the WEB port number.. and this wont work in SDM configuration.
after the configuration , rebuild your project and choose deploy from the context menu.

Hi Sam,
You can get your Message server and Port number from:
1. http://localhost:50000/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo
Login with Administrator and corresponding password.
2. There You can find your Message Server Host and Port.
Take this configure your engine depending on wether it is remote or local.
If you persist with problem let me know your j2ee engine version?.
***Award Points if its helpful.
With Regards,
Laksh.

Hi Sam,
Go to window->preferences->Sap j2ee engine.set the message server host.it will be the system where ur engine is installed.Message server port u have to check with ur admin.
In case ur engine is installed on ur system,u can go for second option available in that window.

Hi Sumit,
Thanks for the reply. But I still dont know what the J2EE Engine is? It's not my JDK right? Does it mean where my EP Server installed? If my EP server is like: http://practice:50000/irj/portal, how could I fill out the SAP J2EE Engine dialogue?
Thanks a lot,
SAM
