Setting up SAPGUI for JAVA 7.0 rev 4

I have just downloaded and installed the SAPGUI and was wanting to configure but I am a little puzzled about how to just get a simple login working. The docs talks about a configuration file, settings and connections files but I am not sure of the syntax of the strings. Anyone done this before?

Hello John,

in general the settings and connection files are generated by SAP GUI for Java, you do not need to edit them.

The interesting part is the configuration file, the message server and router files in case you want to use load balancing and routers.

Please have a look at .

How to get a simple direct connection setup to an application server is described in 9.1 Technical Background - Connection Strings in the manual part of the installation of SAP GUI for Java

Thank you for the reply. I found a thread that pointed me to an older document PlatinGUI-TechEd2000.pdf which I searched for on the web. I was able to figure it out using the examples in this document.
