Error while creating sales order

Dear All,

I am having error while creating sales order.

"Error occurred in derivation rule. See long text".

When click on error message at statusbar.

it gave me message ..

<b>Error occurred in derivation rule. See long text

The system could not find a rule entry valid on 07/17/2007 for the following source fields:

Profit Center/Controlling Area

G200-DUMMY/G200</b>

Please advice me.

There is a problem with characteristic derivation rule maintenance (Profit Center), check with an FI/CO consultant.

You can change the default plant in the material master in sales org 1 tab .

Hi Venkat,

The Operating concern should be checked for the Characteristic values assigned for the particular Profit center.

You need an FI consultant's help here.

Check if Profit Centre is maintained in Material Master Data or not. If not Maintained, maintain the same & retry creating new sales order.

Incase the above does not works, then refer the issue to FI & MM Consulatant. It could also be an FI configuration error.

I have also realised that in Sales Order, in Itemline where Plant is entered. there is a defaut plant XX, I am getting error but if I change the default plant and enter other plant it is not giving me error.

Thanks for your reply, you are right. profit center in not maintained In Materail Master for that Plant. If I change the plant it works but why my default plant is XX.

I wanted to change my default plant to YY.

How Can I default my plant to YY.

Please let me know.
