We have a transaction log file of capacity 6,7 GB
We have a scheduled backup for every 15 min.
We check from the Database server that this job works propoperly,
however when I check from DB02 at SAP, I see that the used sized of the
transaction file does not decrease in every 15 min. The size decreases time-to-time without any connection with this 15 minuted SQL Backup job.
Is there anybody who knows, when and how the size of the transaction log file size (Log Used) decreases?
On SQL 2000 ENT X86, Win 2003. SAP ECC 5.0
Try looking at the log file from SQL enterprise manager rather than DB02 and you should see the used log file size decrease (assuming you are getting changes in the log).
The 'file' size or allocation to the OS does not decrease - you need to do this manually.
Right click DB select shrink DB, select files, select log file enter size and tell it when to shrink (now or later)
