Running Programme using Variant??

Could u plz let me know how to run the backorder and rescheduling programme using variant.please let me the step by step procedure-----thank.

Hi

Go to the program you want to run/schedule in background mode.

Give your selection criteria and then in the menu Go to-Variant-Save as variant.

You save this screen as the variant by giving some variant name and text.

Also after saving in the menu go to System---Status and in the new screen copy the program name .

Now go to SM36

Give a job name and job priority and click Step

In the screen give the program name and select the variant which you have saved

If you want the job to be executed using a different id, you can change the id, and also the language if it is language specific.

Now click the check button at the bottom and then save this.

Once the screen comes back to SM36, do save once more.

Now click the button Start Condition

In the resultant screen, you can mention the time, whether the job is periodic or not, any other constraints etc.

Now again check and save

Once it comes to SM36, save once again

Now the job gets scheduled as per the date and time you have given.

At that scheduled time, you can go to SM37 give the job name and find the result of the job.

Please find details below:

Goto SE38.

Type in the report or program name.

click on execute button.

1.Steps to create variant

Enter the input values.

Use menu path Goto->Variants->Save as variant

Enter variant name and description.

Click on save button.

Now next to the execute button on the top left corner of the screen

you will see a get variant button.select the variant that you created in previous steps by click on this icon.

Now ,screen is populated with the values specified in the variant.

2. Steps to run the job in background,

Select menu path Program->Execute in background.

specificy output device as locl or the correct outputdevice if you know.

click on the continue icon at the bottom left corner of the window.

A new window appears,Click on immediate button and then click on save button.

The job will be scheduled in the background.

To view the job goto transaction SM37.
