I m new to XMIi. I want to know the brief history of XMII i.e. when XMII came to existence in SAP??

SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) composite application that solves the disconnect between the plant floor and the rest of the enterprise. It enables you to become an adaptive manufacturing which means responding to unpredictable change in supply chain that too in a profitable way.
xMII is a composite developed by Lighthammer and SAP took over Lighthammer in mid 2005.

I wouldn't call xMII a composite as we are a product that composites can be built on. xMII is more of an integration framework that allows for multiple systems to be brought together through the use of XML and then exposed to Web Pages or accessed via WebService calls. Hope this helps to clarify.
