material determination

Regarding Material determination in these i have some doubt especially in Product proposal in it we have some of the Items are mentioned init.

for Example 1.Hd_12

2.Hd_34

3.Hd_45

4.Hd_67

These are the items mentiioned in the product porposal in material determination

Hd_34 swaps Hd_12 in these if the insufficient of Hs_12 the system as to take the item Hd_45 automatically how these settings is done in the system plz tell me path of it. Because my client requirement is that system as to take automatically the product plz help me with path,settingsin system and if any sdn.sap lins.

For SD material Determination you can create a Substitution reason and on the Strategy field, the following info. is available:

Product selection in the background is performed on the basis of the availability check.

We want to have the material determination only in case on material shortage. We expect the Substitution reason to give us this functionallity. It does not hovever take the availabilty into account before substitution.

We thought the worse case is to create a ABAP which is linked to the "requirement" field in the Procedure (OV13).

Has anyone had the same requirement? Is this a bug or just incorrectly documented?

I also encountered this abnormally recently using material determination. In order to combat the problem, the first product substitution should be for the original material. I've illustrated this below:

Original Product: ABC

Substitutes: DEF, XYZ

In order to perform product substitution ONLY in the case of ATP failure for product ABC, structure the Material Determination record as follows:

Material Entered: ABC Substitutes: ABC

DEF

XYZ

There seems to be a devaition at availability check and or on a conceptual note still.

Availability check can be configured both at requiremnt class and at the schedule line categories level.

Whilst the availabilty check at the requirement class level via global and mandatory configuration the schedule line catgry availability check deals with the order.

It is mandatory that the reqmnt class is flagged off for avlblty check and the schdelu line cat need not be.

The following are the mandatory for Availability check to happen--

1. Must be swithced on at the requirment class level and at the schedule line level.

2. Reqmnt type must exist by which a requiremnt class can be found

3. There must exist a plant and is defined

4.Checking group must be defined in Material Master records(it controls whthr the system is to create individual or collective reqmnt)

<u><b>First Item proposal:</b></u>

Document type PV can be defined to configure product proposal or item proposal.

SD document category is ‘D’ which is item proposal.

Create Item Proposal, T.Code: VA51

Enter Item proposal type: PV

Enter your sales area

Enter the materials

1.Hd_12

2.Hd_34

3.Hd_45

4.Hd_67

Save the document and an item proposal number is generated.

Then we go to XD02, and enter the item proposal number in the customer master of the customer for which this item proposal was created under the sales tab in the sales area data.

Then we go to VA01 and raise an order and click on ‘Propose Items’ icon or go to EDIT > Propose Items to list the items in the order.

<u><b>Second Material Determination:</b></u>

Order material can be swapped with other material.In your case material Hd_34 in the sales order, material Hd_12 can be given to the customer. If Hd_12 in short supply give Hd_45. we will divide it into 2 parts.

Have a look at 0004 - Automatic Mat. Selection

Maintain Condition Records:

Menu Path: Easy Access / logistics / sales and distribution / Master Data / products / material determination / Create.

T.code: VB11

We enter the proposed reason - 0004 that we defined in the Substitution Reasons.

and maintain Replacements.

Original Material is Hd_34 and this is the material that is going to be replaced.

The replacement material is Hd_12.

Save it.

Now the system is automatically replacing Hd_34 with Hd_12.

<b>Configure Hd_45 replacing Hd_12 if Hd_12 is not available in stock:</b>

In this everything remains the same as above but only difference comes in the "Substitution Reason"

Copy 0004 and create a new one like 0041 but the value in <b>'Strategy'</b> will be <b>'A'</b> and not blank as in 0004.

Maintain Condition Records:

Menu Path: Easy Access / logistics / sales and distribution / Master Data / products / material determination / Create.

T.code: VB11

We enter the proposed reason - 0041 that we defined in the Substitution Reasons.

and maintain Replacements.

Original Material is Hd_12 and this is the material that is going to be replaced if not in stock.

The replacement material is Hd_45.

Save it
