Hii experts,
I know what is an CMIR(cust material info record) and how it is maintained, but never came across the need of maintaining it.
What is its significance, as i didint come across any particular advantage of maintaing it.

hi,
customer master information record is used in order to collect information from the customer how they are storing /using our material in there database.Also it will give you all the basic values needed in reference to this customer.
Ex:in the transaction code VD51 you can have the fields
material number which is company specific
and there is a field called customer material here we will give the name of the material by which customer will place the order

In a business scenario.You are a vendor to a customer.The customer usually speaks with refernece to his part no thorugh out the business cycle.All his correspondence will be only wrt to his part no.So it is necessay to maintain CMIR which will avoid redundant data entry.What ever system you use whther it is SAP or some other ERP you need to maintain CMIR

the CMIR is used mainly to provide correct information on the output we provide to the customer,
for example in the sales order confirmation you send the CMIR of the material to the customer.

Here's an advantage. A customer wants specific text information on thier documents (order confirmation, invoice, etc.) You can add this to the CMIR, then with some text determination configuration and adding this to the document output forms, the customer can get a more "personalized" invoice and confirmation document(s)

The CMIR is the highest level of master record and has a precedence over customer and material master records. the main advantage of maintaining this
master record is that for all the details for particular customer and paticular material are stored here such as
1.terms of payment.
2.rounding profile.
delivering plant. etc
it is very specific and takes precedence ,and one more advantage is that the customer calls the product by a name but the buisness maintains the product different name.

This role contains all the functions which you need in order to maintain customer-specific information and material information on the customer.
This includes master data maintenance of the material and the customer, maintenance of customer hierarchy, maintenance of customer-specific data on a material, of proposal lists (item proposal) for sales document entry, of substition materials and maintenance of value contacts.

CMIR has a highest level of priority for the fields you maintain in the record.
It overwrites customer and material master default fields.
As this is a specific to customers,you can maintain the relavant data of your most loyal and frequently ordering customers.So that you know that what terms and conditions customers does bussiness with your company and his priorities.

Hi,
The most important use of CMIR Is that i u want to override some thing such as unit of measure , rounding profile,plant data , delivery priority data etc .
These data are already maintained in master data but as the SAP gives first preference to CMIR it will take the data from CMIR and not from other master data .
