This is Enterprise Portal 6.0, (J2EE Engine - 6.40 PatchLevel 102141.313) and (Portal - 6.0.9.0.0) running on HP-UX (B.11.11) .

In the jcmon Menu when I select the option 20 getting error --> Can't open shared memory administration (rc=3).

If I select the command 10 getting error --> Can't connect to message server (rc=-1)

Below is the 2 command with error.

Request some one to suggest.

Thanks

Hello Ravish,

The message " Can't open shared memory administration" indicates that your J2EE Stack is down and the J2EE Ports have not been allocated to the respective services. And hence the Jcontrol and Jlaunch process would not be running on the server.

The reason behind this issue could be due to :

1) JVM not being properly loaded - error needs to be analysed.

2) Incorrect JVM Memory settings (cud have been modifed via config tool).

3) Port availablity issue - which cud hardly be the cause.

Kinldy go thru the following SDN thread- which talks on the same issue and gives quit good info and SAP notes list too.

I hope this helps you...

Hello Premkishan Chourasia,

Thanks for the reply, but it is not helping.

The messageID=958222 you provided talks about "Can't attach to administration shared memory" but my Error message is "Can't open shared memory administration"

Also you have mentioned 3 possible error points, where can I find more details on point 1, error.

Thanks Again

Hello Ravish ,

Some one has solved this issue :

Hello All,

I solved this same problem using configtool to set the follow Max parameters to 512M:

-> server_IDXX (General and bootstrap)

-> Instance_IDXX (Message Server & Bootstrap and Servers General)

and using instance.properties

-> all MaxHeapSize

All others parameters I set according SAP note 709140 and 716604.

I'm using WAS 6.40 ABAP+Java Stack15 on WINNT (4Gb RAM) running XI.
