you may use remote client copy from unicode to non-unicode if I understood note 557132 right. But it's not guarantied that it will run without problems. You may get conversion errors. The problem is more or less that the relation between different characters to code pages is not one to one. That means, that there is no algorithm to calculate the correct code page for all entries in all tables. If a table has a language field, it is no problem at all, but all other tables without a language field could be source of a problem.
You may also check note 647495 for Unicode to non Unicode systems.
Just try it in a test environment. In the worst case you loose diskspace and time. May be your client copy works, but there is no guarantee.
