What is the need of Scheduling in network , if we've dates like basic dates etc?

Hi,

In continuation to above replies, we maintain basic start and finish dates in Project definition and network header only. Based on the duration given for the respective activities, earliest/latest start and finish dates are calculated for the activities (by means of forward and backward scheduling). This provides the critical path and floats.

Hi jommy,

Scheduling at networks is essential for capacity planning at the specified work center in the activities. Based on that, capacity levelling can be done by increasing the capacity through increase in no.of individuals or change of work center or shift the dates of activities in that work center.

Suppose if you are changing the dates of the activities in the capactity levelling, with the help of network scheduling we will predict the project end/start date and the same will be reflected in the sales order in case of customer projects.

Hi,

One of the important effects of scheduling is that you can do resource planning. Resource requirement records are created automatically when scheduling. Based on the requirements you can doe capacity leveling etc.
