SAPWebConsole replaced by ITSMobile?

Hi,

Currently we have sapconsole communicating to R3 4.6C and we are planning to upgrade this. The options we see is either go to SAPWebConsole 6.40 or ITSMobile. But we use Telnet console communication and would like to know if ITSMobile would support this type. I am putting this w.r.t oss note 1070064

Hi Giridhara,

As others have replied, you can use either WebSAPconsole 6.40 or ITSmobile to communicate with character devices.

With ECC 5.0 and higher, ITS is integrated into the ERP system, so you would have to upgrade to ECC 6.0 based on Netweaver 7.1 (we installed ECC 6.0 a couple of months ago and it is still based on 7.0, not 7.1).

If you are keeping R/3 4.6c then you have a choice of versions. ITSmobile is very new and WebSAPconsole 6.40 has been out for a couple of years. So if you are implementing soon (less than six months) and have a choice, you would probably encounter fewer issues with WebSAPconsole.

Hi all,

please be aware that ITSmobile is replaceing WEBSAPconsole. <b>Not SAPConsole !!!</b> SAPConsole is still the SAP solution to connect character based mobile applications to SAP systems. ITSmobile is technology based on web standards and cannot communicate with devices using the telnet protocol.

Hi Klaus,

We have installed the latest GUI front end 7.1 Core (selecting all options) and it no longer appears to install SAPconsole. Do you know where SAPConsole should now be installed from?

Hi Richard,

SAPConsole 7.1 is no longer a part of SAPGUI 7.1 but will be we available later this year as a separate installation. Until it is available please use 6.40.

Hello Giridhara,

Are you planning to use character based RF device or Webbased RF device? If you want to use web enable RF functionalities (i.e. GUI based) with Netweaver 2007 or higher vesion then SAP Webconsole will be replaced by ITSMobile, but still character based RF functionalities will be supported with even ITSMobile also.

We use character based. I have seen these notes, but they don't inform about character based info.

Here is the part of OSS note which explains the same.

As announced with SAP note 1046184, the Web SAP Console will no longer be supported for SAP systems based on SAP Netweaver 7.1 and higher (<b>please note that SAP Console as a technology to link character based devices to SAP systems is still supported</b>). SAP instead recommends to use ITSmobile a technology based on ITS (ITS is SAPs standard technology to bring applications based on ABAP dynpros to the web). This note should give customers information about the capabilities of both technologies.
