hi,
Can anyone explain what is valuation class and where does it have the implication with sd ?
Regards,
Vijay
The valuation classes, in conjunction with other factors, determine to which G/L accounts a valuation-relevant business transaction (for example, goods movement) is posted in inventory accounting.
The permitted valuation classes for a material depend on the material type . Several valuation classes can be valid for one material type. Equally, one valuation class can be valid for several material types.
You establish the link between the valuation classes and the material types via the account category reference. You use the account category reference to group the valuation classes together. You then allocate the account category references to the material types.
The following rules apply for allocating account reference categories:
If a material type is to have its own valuation classes, you must define a separate account category reference which contains these valuation classes.
You allocate the same account category reference to different material types which are to have the same valuation class.
In this menu option, you can display which of the material types have been assigned to which account category references. You can then change these allocations.
Note
You have to agree on the definition of the valuation classes with the MM System. In the SD System, the valuation classes are generally only maintained if the MM System is not used, or if the material types are only used by sales and distribution. The valuation class makes it possible to:
Post the stock values of materials of the same material type to different G/L accounts
Post the stock values of materials of different material types to the same G/L account

valuation Class:
It is an assignment of a material to a group of G/L accounts
With other factors, the valuation class determines the G/L accounts that are updated as a result of a valuation-relevant transaction or event such as a goods movement.
The valuation class makes it possible to:
Post the stock values of materials of the same material type to different G/L accounts
Post the stock values of materials of different material types to the same G/L accounts.

The valuation class has the following functions:
