Performance hit using SSL

I am looking to get any input as to how much of a performance hit I can expect when switching on https.

For various reasons, client-eventing, session termination,... we are thinking about using https calls for BSP's and other BI reports. Has anyone done a study to see the impact this has on overall system performance?

Instance it WebAS 6.40 - HP

Thanks!

Steve E.

Check documents like

http://www.ciri.upc.es/projects/rd/rd_archivos/deep_computing/ebusiness/Jornadas04.pdf

http://www.techworld.com/files/whitepapers/SSL_planning.pdf

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/webas/vwx/web as 6.40 performance analysis.pdf

There's also a not on 'Using SSL Accelerators with SAP Enterprise Portal' SAP Note Number: 686293
