NWDS Installation

Hi,

I have downloaded NWDS 2.0 sp11 from market place thru SAP Download Manager. What all the prerequisites to install it? How do I install it? Is there any variation between sneak preview available in SDN and this?

Hi Vijaya Laxmi,

NWDS is a tool for develop the application like weddypro,portal,composite etc...

Prerequisites for NWDS is j2sdk1.4. ,min 512 RAM, 40GB(good enough).

First you must install the j2sdk1.4 then install the NWDS, while installing that automatically takes the j2sdk path, you continue with that...

To install NWDS, click on the setup file and follow the instructions and click next... finish, it's easy to install..,

Thanks for your quick reply. I am aware of those details. Infact,i have downloaded from the SDN and worked on that. Whreas, in this case, now i have downloaded the above from Marketplace thru download Manager. When I click on the downloaded file, i am not able to see anything and infact. I am kinda confused, is there any difference or what? plz do help me... how do i proceed?

Hello Vijaya ,

What is the format of the compressed file ( It may be zip or SAR ) .

If the file is SAR / CAR you will require SAPCAR.EXE utility to extract the SAR file .

Download SAPCAR / SAPSAR exe from OSS of you will get the same in executable folder of any SAP Application server .

To execute the SAR / CAR file :

sapcar – xvf Downloaded_file_name.SAR

Infact there is no difference .,If the versions both are same .

Its not a matter from where you have download,You can use the tool which was downloaded from SDN.

Hello Vijaya ,

Download the SAPSAR.EXE from OSS .

http:
service.sap.com\swdc ( Or ask your Basis team to provide )

Execute the command :

SAPSAR - xvf Compressedfileneme.SAR

You can check with OSS Note : 212876

When I search for SAPSAR.EXE to download, the search result is nill. Can you plz explain in detail, as i dnt have anyone (basis team) to help me out.

You can also use SAPCAR.EXE .

File is available on :

http://service.sap.com/swdc In right navigation SAP Software Distribution Center

Explore Download -> Search in SAP Software Distribution Center -> SErch for SAPCAR .

Download the file for eg:

SAPCAR 6.40 -> Windows Server on IA32 32bit

Still if you are not able to download provide your mail ID i will mail you the executable .

TQ, i got the file, when i try to execute, it is throwing an error as "SAPCAR is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"

Can you plz let me know, whr cld i went wrong?

go to search the SAPCAR file then u run the sapcar from command prompt.
