dispatcher running but not connecd to message server

hi..

iam trying to start my server, in process list iam getting dispatcher is not getting start.first iam getting 'DISPATCHER IS RUNNING BUT NOT CONNETED TO MESSAGE SERVER' it is in yellow color, after some time , it is changing to green color but the message is ' MESSAGE SERVER IS OK BUT DIALOG QUEUE IS STAND STILL' afere some time its getting stop.

can any one help me pls what is the problem?

Shutdown the database and restart it...There's a probablity for the connection of message server..

I have seen this before....in my case sap was not able to connect to db...check if ur db is up and running...do a R3trans -d and paste the log here..

Hi,

One thing that may cause the problem is if the SAPSTARTSRV.EXE

executable is older then the disp+work.exe (might be it was not updated

along with the kernel) . Usually, when applying kernel patches

the patch contains an updated version of SAPSTARTSRV.EXE too.

The two executables have to be of the same version (from the same patch

file) since the service (SAPSTARTSRV.EXE) tries to display internal

structures of the SAP system.

To check this, please do the following:

1. For dispwork.exe, go to a command prompt and navigate to the exe\rundirectory. Then, execute "dispwork -V"

2. Compare the version in step 1 with the following. Right-mouse click

on "sapstartsrv.exe" in the exe\run directory. Click tab "Version"

and then "Product Version". The patch level here should match

I will suggest you to check few things first.

1. Download latest kernels from SAPSERVICE MARKET PLACE and apply

that to your system.

2. Another thing to check is if the SAP service is really pointing to

the correct sapstartsrv.exe?

Services -> eg: SAP<SID>_00 -> Properties -> Path to executable

Check that the SAP Service is pointing to the correct sapstartsrv.exe.

So even if the sapstartsrv.exe in directory

'<drive>:\user\sap\sys\exe\run\disp+work.exe' is the correct

version,

there can still be a problem

3. please follow the steps:

1. Stop the SAP service

2. Open a command prompt

3. Go to usr\sap\<SID>\exe\run

4. call 'sapstartsrv.exe -t' from the command line

5. Confirm the dialog window

6. Start the service again

what is the server version.also check the os level.all the oracle and sap services are running.check the HDD free space also.

Hi,

Is the message service also part of the same sap instance which you are trying to start.

If so then check the sapstart log file. Do a clean stop/start. After 'stopsap', check from OS if all the sap processes are stopped. Then try 'startsap' and check the log file.

do you mean log file is syslog file in sap server itself? if it is yes.. if i rigrt click on thst it is showing 'ADD/REMOVE COLOUMNS'

Hi Pandu,

The sapstart,sapstop,db start log files would be in home directory of your sap user <SID>adm. like in /local/users/<sid>adm or /home/<sid>adm.

They would have names similar to 'startsap_dvebmgs<nr>.log' and stopspa_dvebmgs<nr>.log files.

You can get the details of why sap is not starting up properly in this file.

you can also check "dev_disp" trace file located in /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS<nr>/work directory.

In sap server dispatcher is getting connect now, in my wp Table status is showing as run.... aftersome it is going as enbled, then the dispatcher is getting stop.

Hi Pandu,

As i understand from your question, you have a local sneak preview on your manchine. And due to some reason that has stopped working.Just do one thing, try to read the "Developer Trace"..that is just right click on the node that is stopped and click on Developer trace ...just post that Developer Trace in Forum..in your question...Then After see that ..some expert can suggest you what the real problem and as well as solution for that.
