Hi,

I am working on SAP 4.6C now. I know that there is 4.7 after this. But whta is there after 4.7. I hear its called Netweaver. But I also hear about ECC 6.0. I hear about Netweaver 2004s, netweaver 7.0.

I am very confused with these names.

Could someone give me the exact versioning of SAP, as in what came after what

Something like this....

4.6C>4.7> ?? -->?? ......

Thanx in advance.

Hello,

SAP versions are as follows.

2.2D

2.2F

3.0G

3.0H

3.1I

4.5B

4.6C

"R/3 Enterprise" (successor of "R/3"):

4.7 Enterprise Edition Extension Set 1.1

4.7 Enterprise Edition Extension Set 1.1

"ERP" (successor of "R/3 Enterprise"):

mysap ERP 2004 (also known as ECC 5.0)

mysap ERP 2005 (also known as ECC 6.0)

Some days ago ERP 2005/ECC 6.0 was renamed ( http://service.sap.com/erp)

Now the official name is

SAP ERP 6.0

SAP NW04 == SAP Netweaver 04

SAP NW2004s = SAP Netweaver 2004s

ECC 6.0 == ERP 2005 based on SAP Netweaver 2004s

I hope this information will help you.

Note: Points always encourage me to reply !!

You can find ecc6.0 referring to mySAPERP 2005 guide

Right now currently for others the path is renamed to

Under SAP Business Suite Applications > SAP ERP > SAP ERP 6.0

There you can find everything.

But I dont see the name ECC 6.0 in the installation guides.... there is ECC 5.0 and then SAP Netweaver 7.0. Hence I thought ECC 6.0 == SAP Netweaver 7.0

Gautam,

1 - Also, is ECC 6.0 renamed to SAP Netweaver 7.0?

[P.] no, ECC6.0 ( ERP Central Component) maintains this versioning (ECC5.0,

ECC6.0, ECC6.0 SR1 etc.)

2- Another question would be difference between SR1 and SR2 of Netweaver 7.0.

How are they different?

[P.] differences between SR1 and SR2 are related to some functional and

technical aspects ( like BI usage type etc.), you can check the details on the

release notes on sap marketplace

best regards,

P.

Hi Gautam,

1.Is ECC 6.0 == SAP Netweaver 2004s ?

[P.] ECC6.0 is the centra componet of mySapERP 2005 application, Netweaver04s is the application framework that consists libraries, documentation, and examples which you use to develop speech and touch-tone applications for SAP scenarios on the NetWeaver platform (also for BI 7.0 , XI 7.0, EP...)

2. Whats the Difference between SAP Netweaver 04 and SAP Netweaver 2004s ?

[P.] Netweaver 2004s is the next release of 2004, now is called also 7.0

3.is mysap ERP 2004 == SAP Netweaver 2004s??

[P.] No, mysapERP2004 is the application (the old R/3), Netweaver is the application framework

Few more question though,

1.Is ECC 6.0 == SAP Netweaver 2004s ?

2. Whats the Difference between SAP Netweaver 04 and SAP Netweaver 2004s ?

3.is mysap ERP 2004 == SAP Netweaver 2004s??

But why so many names.

I am sorry, but is it just me or is SAP AG confused too?

Thanx in advance.

Hi,

ECC stands for "ERP Central Component" and is is part of mySAP ERP software shipment for customers with mySAP ERP or mySAP Business Suite license contract.

Check http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/43/011b80fb566f70e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm for details.

Is is thus not NW, although theu share the same core.

Regarding the differences between NW2004 and 2004s, now called 7

check http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/57/a21f407b402402e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

Hi,

Until SAP R/3 Rel 4.6C there was no independent shipment of the SAP Basis.

The successor of SAP R/3 Rel 4.6C was SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.70. The underlying technology was the SAP Web Application Server 6.20. This technology release you could also use stand-alone.

The next ERP version was SAP ERP 5.0 based on SAP NetWeaver 2004. SAP NetWeaver combined a couple of separate prior products like the SAP Web Application Server, SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP Mobile Engine, SAP Exchange Infrastructure, and SAP Business Information Warehouse.

The current version is SAP ERP 6.0 based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (aka SAP NetWeaver 2004s). SAP ERP is part of the SAP Business Suite and a general overview you can find here:

http://www.sap.com/solutions/business-suite/erp/index.epx

For more information on SAP NetWeaver you can also check this site:

and of course this one:

Hi,

There are two main lines:

- ERP is still the product you're working on in version 4.6c

The latest is now SAP ERP 6.0 aka mySAP ERP 2005

Also check service.sap.com/erp

- Netweaver is a web-based, open integration and application platform that serves as the foundation for enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA) and allows the integration and alignment of people, information, and business processes across business and technology boundaries. It utilizes open standards to enable integration with information and applications from almost any source or technology. SAP NetWeaver is the foundation of SAP xApps and mySAP Business Suite solutions, and also powers partner solutions and customer custom-built applications.

The latest release is NW 7 aka nw2004s

Also check
