ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment

Hi

We are in the process to upgrade our Sandbox server from BW 3.1c to BI 7.00.

I have completed the Oracle upgrade process from 92050 to 10.2.0.2.0 as per

"upgrade to oracle database 10g release 2(10.2):unix - Database upgrade

guide" documentation.We followed each steps as mentioned in guide. But in

the step of changing the environment for SIDADM (page 40 - topic 5.11),

R3trans -d fail to connect to database with following error.

rx2n0v3:bsnadm 10> R3trans -d

This is R3trans version 6.13 (release 620 - 03.06.05 - 17:04:00).

2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = ORACLE

--- dbs_ora_tnsname = 'BSN'"

R3trans finished (0012).

This error message is pointing to "ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data

files or invalid environment" in trans.log file. As per documentation and

oss note, we must not entered the ORA_NLS10 and ORA_NLS33 in env variable

of SIDADM. If i use oracle client 92x_64 and set the env ORA_NLS33, it work. Seem to me , problem is related to NLS file as SIDADM is not able to find it.

Pls suggest the solution to solve this problem.

ORA_NLS33 must NOT be set, if you use a kernel of version 7.00. Since you are still running an older kernel and thus using the 9.2 client.

See on page 41 the fist sentence:

"You do not need to change the environment for <sapsid>adm on application servers because SAP applications still use Oracle9i clients."

So that means, that you ORA_NLS33 needs to be kept.
