tp running as batch at os-level fails

Hi to all!

We are running tp to import the transports by i5/OS-Batchjob which is a CL. Now we have installed a new NW2004s-System. And this CL won't execute the tp as it does for our 4.6C-Systems. I found out that tp creates a file in IFS /usr/sap/trans/tmp/XXX.LOB. This streamfile has the CCSID=819 but the content ist coded as CCSID=500. So the tp can't understand what it has written into it. When I change the content from EBCDIC to ASCII with a PC-Editor and wirte back this file, the tp runs until the next LOB-File ist created

When I change the execution of tp to run with QP2SHELL (PASE-Environment) it fails with "tp error core 0203".

The protocol says that the command is unknown. This means that the tp parameters "addtobuffer <TRANSPORT> <SID> <Client=xxx> pf=/usr/sap/trans/bin/TP_DOMAIN_xxx.PFL" are incorrect. But this command is used with all earlier SAP-Systems (4.6C) an it's still the correct syntax.

Is there anyone who has solved this problem or can give me hint for solving it.

Thanks to you for give some help

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

are you using SIDOFR and the CCSID of 500 when running this CL program ?

Do you have the same problem when using TP from the OS/400 command line (not via pase) ?

What TP patch you are roughly using ?

Hi Victor,

the use of STMS is currently not our preferred solution for transporting. We are working with this CL-Programm for about 6 years. We have to deliver changes to about 140 clients and this program did a good job for us. For our new SAP-System I would like to have this program run as well.

But it could be, that we have to change the way of transporting...

Hi Thomas,

140 clients - that is really a lot !

But, couldn't you still setup a transport landscape with one or most likely more large transport groups ?!

Hi Volker,

we have installed a new TP and R3TRANS and a new kernel. The problem still remains.

But I created an external command (SM69) and run a job from SM37 with this ext. command. THIS IS WORKING!

But the problem is not completely solved. Now I'm going to sent a message to SAP.

Hello Thomas,

Just curious... Why do you use CL program, not Tcode STMS, to import transports?

Best regards,

Victor

Hi Volker,

thanks for your questions. Yes, the batch job is running as <SID>OFR. I was running the tp command from a green screen also logged on as <SID>OFR. The execution of the tp commands stops with the problem of the CCSID and the LOB-file.

Here is the log from the batch execution:

This is /usr/sap/BQ2/SYS/exe/run/tp version 370.00.09 (release 700, unicode enabled)

"ADDTOBUFFER BE2K900032 BQ2 PF=/USR/SAP/TRANS/BIN/TP_DOMAIN_BE2.PFL" unknown command: use "help" for an overview of possible comma

s

tp returncode summary:

TOOLS: Highest return code of single steps was: 0

ERRORS: Highest tp internal error was: 0203

tp finished with return code: 203

meaning: wrong syntax in tp call

I'm still working to get a solution...

Hi Thomas,

I'm happy to see, that you are obviously doing everything correct )

=> I would open an OSS ticket with componente BC-OP-AS4 now, as you seem to face an i5 codepage problem ...
