Dear guys,
I want to install below thing
Enterprise 4.7x 200 IDES SR1.
could you pls tell me pre installation steps and installation steps..how to do it.
Chandra
Hi,
Do you have the installation guide for 4.7? If yes, please mention which step is causing the problem? If no, please download it from service marketplace and read it at least twice. Installation is quite a lengthy process and you should begin installation only after you have read the installation guide and all related sap notes.
The general steps are:
1. Setup your OS with all latest patches
2. Adjust virtual memory settings as per installation guide (usually it is 3x of RAM available)
3. Setup environment variables for JAVA, if required
4. Extract all SAP software CDs on hard disk. This will contain a master cd, kernel cd, and around 7-8 files (on DVD) for database
5. Install database (oracle/sql server/sap db) and apply patches
6. Install DB instance
7. Install central SAP instance
NOTE: Steps 6 and 7 depend on your database used
8. Perform post processing steps like setting up TMS for transports, creating users, and installing license.
Hope this information helps. Get back if you have further queries.

Shehryar

Dear Shehryar khan,
Thanks for your reply.
while installing IDES E4.7, i struck up here to decide what to select and continue.
Problem is...while installing...I get screen Asking for
<b>"<i>ABAP SYSTEM->Interuppting for Multilanguage support</i></b>
Finish the prerperation for multi national lanaguge support.
<b>Multi National Language support</b>
The installation stops now because the system has to be prepared for multi
national language support. if the preperations have been finished, you can continue
the installation now. if you want to perform the necessary actions later , you have
to interupt the installation process and continue, when you have finished the preperations.
if you want to use multinational language support, you much not start the sap system unless
the necessary actions have been finished.
1-Continue installation
2-Interupt installation( default checked)
What i have to select here and click ok?
I dont understand what it is..its asking for unicode or language support(en,japanese,de,au..etc)?.
FYI. i am going to work with Japanese environment.
could you pls help me..how to continue..
btw,I will be more thankfull if anybody can give me direct support for sometime in chat
my id..is princeck_2001@yahoo.com

Dear shehryar khan.
Thanks for your reply..
Actually i am using SQLserver 2000.
BTW, i solved this problem by selecting CONTINUE button as suggested by my BASIS GUY.
Now my installation is complete..i want to know what should i do next..ie..post installation steps..
i will post this question in next thread.
let me close this ..with your help.
Chandra
Hei,
seems to be that others have same problems like I do have.
1) There is a lack of installation documentation
2) I read that for the IDES MNLS is not supported.
3) I stuck in the installation of the database instance. I did second after the central instance. Now the process stops inthe starting of the SAP (startsap). I don't know why this happens. SAP notes are not to find.
If there is further information I would like it too.
