1) how can we delete entries out of these tables?
2) I defined retention periods and since then the msgs are being flagged for ARCH but the older msgs which were in the system before i defined retention period and scheduled the archiving and deletion jobs, are now marked with status DEL in SXMSPMAST.
Can someone help me on this on how to delete old msgs in the tables?
Hi Tony,
Have you managed to solve the issue with the SXMSPMAST table? There is a SAP Note on this: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/789352

Hi
I think for incorrect messages we can follow these steps:
1)A job to write the messages to the archive
2)A job to delete the archived message
Hope it helps

Hi Tony,
>> 1) how can we delete entries out of these tables?
Messages that have been processed correctly are deleted by default. You must archive all messages that are not to be deleted.

Hi Tony,
>>does this mean that all msgs in the cluster tables are the ones processed successfully.
No, cluster table contains all the message processing data. Messages that have been processed correctly are deleted by default(default retention period is 30 days).
Yes, u can set them to delete before the 30 day limit via the tuning parameter PERSIST_DURATION = 5days.
Hope this will be helpful.

Hi Tony,
For deleting the incorrect messages from the cluster tables you have to schedule a job (deletion job). Before scheduling a job for deletion there are some prerequisites which should be met. Go thru this link and you doubts will be cleared :
