SNP and DP Products

Hi,

I'm using characteristic 9AMATNR for both DP and SNP.

When I CIF a new product from R/3 system I can find it in the SNP product master but not in the characteristic 9AMATNR (I checked via rsa1 transaction). So let me know do I need to do fill the characteristic explicitly.

When you CIF material master from R/3 to APO, it populates the Product Master tables (/SAPAPO/MATKEY) in APO. This master data is then available through transaction /SAPAPO/MAT1.

However the characteristic 9AMATNR (accessible thorough transaction RSA1) is not automatically populated. You can set up a separate data flow to load product master data from R/3 to APO-BW characteristic. You can add the description texts also in this manner.

Alternatively if you have any DP Planning Object Structure where 9AMATNR is a characteristic and you create CVCs, then the characteristic value in 9AMATNR is written as master data to the infoobject (characteristic) 9AMATNR. However this need not match in content and number to the entries in Product Master table (/SAPAPO/MATKEY).

Even you use Characteristic 9AMATNR, you need to create CVC for DP.

(You cannot create CVC from CIF transfer).

If you use your own characteristic to product in DP, you need to assign your own characteristic to product from following menu.

T-cd /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN (POS view) and open your DP POS

Then from the menu, please choose edit and select Assign product/location.

Then you need to specify your own characteristic to product.

By performing this, your own characteristic has link to product of SNP.

But if you use 9AMATNR to your DP pos, this link DP-SNP is already establish.

So you do not need this assignment. However, this does not means, product data

from R/3 (that is created by CIF transfer) can be used in DP.

To use your product in DP, you always need to create CVC.

To create CVC to your pos, you can create it from /SAPAPO/MC62.
