BSP or Visual Composer or WebDynpro for ABAP/Java?

Hi,

We are working on EP 7.0 with backend being ECC6.0 with DIMP activated. For our content on portal, we would be using standard DIWI's (kind of BSP) and would be making some enhancements and developments. This enhancements would be on the DIWI's and developments requirements would be the entry screens for new processes.

For these enhancements and developments, I would like to make a comparative analysis on the different technologies like BSP,VC,Webdynpro for ABAP/Java based on all kinds of parameters like performance, security, maintenance etc. It would be really helpful if I can have some views on this. Points would be awarded.

Thanks

Nidhi

Both webdynpro and BSP call ABAP function modules from HTTP.

The BSP interface does this via programming in SE80, the webdynpro does this via programming in the Java development workbench.

The BSP enters the SAP systenm via the ICM and is 'routed' to ICF where call are then made to executre ABAP (a good example is we use SOAP BSP's). Webdynpro routes via the ICM to the Java engine which then executes the Java to cann the functions via an RFC interface called a JCo connection.

Another difference to note is SAP is now dedicated to using webdynpro as its internet platform of the future. This indicates that it aims to eventually retire such things as ITS and BSP.

      • if it may be useful rewards points are appreciated

Hi,

If SAP is plaaning to retire BSP, then are they coming up with new options for products like CRM and IS-DIMP? Would they be replacing all PCUI screens of CRM with webdynpro? If yes, any idea, when would that be available?

Regards
