While installing SAP R/3 4.6C(64 bit) on AIX 5.3(64 bit OS) we are unable to run R3SETUP file
our Database is Oracle 8.1.7
we are getting following ERROR :
exec(): 0509-036 cannot load program R3SETUP because of the following error:
exec(): 0509-124The program is a discontinued 64-BIT object file
Please HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!
Regards,
Gayathri.
Are you using R3SETUP from the original installation media? This error usually happens if you try to run a AIX 4.3.3 program on AIX 5. You'll have to use the R3SETUP from 4.6D_EXT media (see http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Entry by application group -> Application Components -> SAP R/3 -> SAP R/3 4.6C -> Entry by Component -> SAP KERNEL 4.6D_EXT 64-BIT).
OSS notes 538849 and 156548 might also help.
Best regards,
Elmar.

are you sure that oracle 8.1.7 is supported to run on aix 5.3?
-> use oracle 9.2 or 10.2 instead
-> follow specific sapnotes for installation 46c and oracle 9i/10g
-> INSTOOL.SH done?
-> Java is running?
-> how did you call R3setup? User?

Hi,
Thanks for the INPUTS.
Based on your inputs, came to know from service market (PAM) that Oracle 8.1.7 is not supported on AIX 5.3.
Our Current setup is SAP R/3 46C Oracle 8.1.7 on Solaris 8. For SAP Upgrade we have planned for IBM AIX 5.3 for ECC6.0 .
Kindly suggest in detail how to go about for Migration of SAP 46C from Solaris to AIX and Upgrade from SAP R/3 46C to ECC 6.0 on Oracle Database
Please suggest at the earliest.
Thanks a TON in advance
Regards,
Gayathri

You need to book the migration services on http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration, a certified consultant must be on site if you migrate.
The steps involved would be
- export your current database on Solaris 8 via R3load
- import that export onto AIX 5.3 with Oracle 9 (or 10g)
- migrate to Oracle 10g (if not installed already)
- upgrade on AIX
