ITEM CATEGORY ERROR!!!!

Hello,

Am trying to create a sales order and getting this error 'NO ITEM CATEGORY AVAILABLE(T184 OR STAR). I remember creating STAR some time ago for ITEM CATEGORY. So i can;t figure out how this STAR is affecting my current sales order? The error comes when I try to save the sales order.

hi,

if you are using the standard sales document type OR then go to copy controls and check whether sales document type OR is assigned to item category TAN OR NOT

if you want to assign the item category group as STAR assign it to sales document type OR

PATH: IMG-- Sales and Distribution--Sales Maintain Copy control for sales documentcopying control sales document .

or

Go to transaction code V0V4 and assign

sales document type+ item category group+ Usage + higher level Category=Default Item CAtegory

OR+ NORMNILNIL=TAN

SORRY MATE, I'VE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I TRIED TO CREATE AN INQUIRY. I DID THE SAME THING YOU TOLD ME FOR SALE ORDER i.e

SALE DOC TYPEITEM CAT GRPUSAGE+HIGHER LEVEL CAT= DEFAULT ITEM

IN OTHERWORDS: INNORMNIL+NIL=TAN (FOR INQUIRY)

IS THIS CORRECT?? I DID IT AND AN ERROR THAT SAYS- NO ITEM CATEGORY AVAILABLE ( TABLE T184 IN STAR) COMES UP

Please enter as follows:

IN + STAR + Nil + Nil = AFN

hi,

AFNORMNIL+NIL=AFN, it will be AFN but not Tan since it is an inquiry

hi Ralph,

In case of inquiry the item category is AGN and not TAN. So do it like this

IN + NORM + Nil + Nil = AGN. You had mentioned in your first query that you had created an item category STAR. So you have to maintain it like that in the sales order also. OR + NORM + Nil + Nil = STAR. But you also have to take care of the copy control settings from inquiry to quotation and quotation to sales order.

Can u tell me STAR is Item Category Group or Item Category.

If STAR is Item Cat. Grp. Then u maintain like

<b>INSTAR- (Nill) + - (Nill)+ TAN ( Or Item Cat What u have to maintain).

</b>

If STAR is Item Cat. Then u maintain like this

<b>INItem Cat. Grp. - (Nill) + - (Nill)+ STAR</b>

You should assign the item category to the order type in the t code v0v4

That is as follow:

sales document type+ item category groupusagehigher level item category group

as

ORNORMNIL+NIL = STAR{which u created in the item category in vov7}

INNORMNILNILAFN... not TAN.
