Communication Channels do not appear in the monitor

I have just created a sender and receiver file adapter and activated them. I tested them in a process by dropping a file into the sender directory with a 10 second poll interval. The file is not being processed.

If I check the corresponding Integration Server Adapter Engine status, there is a green light, BUT When I select the Communication Channel Monitoring button, there are no channels!

Also, although I have created parties that use these channels, they also do not appear in the filter drop down list.

Is there some reason why these channels are not appearing?

Just for clarification; this is on a new XI installation.

for PI 7.0 - sap basis 7.0 for XI 3.0 sap basis 6.40

I'll ask the guy with the rights to the system to try this, but we haven't imported any new SPs since creating the adapters.
