Hi,

We are facing Hardware problems frequently and decided to go for an

OS,SAP and Hardware Migration to a new server with good

configuration.Presently we are working on 3.1H and we want to know the

solaris version compatible for this release.We are going to migrate the

whole thing to a new server with a better solaris version.Can you suggest

which solaris version will be compatible for 3.1H release(3.1I

Kernel,Oracle 7.3).Presently SAP is running on SunOS 5.5.1 version.Please

make a reply to the earliest to make a quick decision.

Thanks and Regards

wow! that's really OLD stuff...

To get all info use PAM (= product availability matrix) under https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/pam

-> 3.1H? is this still supported...i doubt it!

-> oracle 7.3 was de-supported some years ago...even 8i is not supported any more and oracle 9i will be de-supported soon as well...

-> SunOS? at least solaris/SPARC 8...

if you'r egoing for the 46D_EXT kernel (in 64bit) you need at least the following combination on solaris:

-> oracle 9.2

-> solaris/sparc 8

and the following prerequisites:

  • lt, et and lv locales: check note 39739

  • At least Oracle Patchset 9.2.0.2 required. For WEB AS 6.40 based components at least Patchset 9.2.0.4 required. See OSS note 540021.

  • Only relevant for SAP releases 31I - WEB 6.20 based components: See note 557255 or 580772 for installation instructions depending on kernel/SAP Web AS release.

  • Oracle Enterprise Edition only

but somehow i do not think that there will be a straight path...you will need to do some extra stops on your way up (= you will need to upgrade oracle and solaris several times before you can upgrade sap)

According to note 23875 is the max. level you can go

on 32bit:

======

Kernel 3.1I_COM

Solaris 2.6

Oracle 8.1.6/8.1.7

on 64bit:

======

Kernel 3.1I_EXT

Solaris 8/9

Oracle 8.1.7/9.2

So I'd go to the highest possible version on 64bit.

Hi,

As your landscape is running old Versions of SAP, Oracle and OS and there is No Support from any vendors.You Should Upgrade your Landscape on all respects.Better to Switch to SOLARIS/SPARC 9.With ECC5 and Oracle 9208.

Check service.sap.com/pam

Hi,

Thanks for the information.we will upgrade soon after migration is over ie we have to run the same for three more years.Since the performance is not up to the mark, we are planning to migrate to a new server with good configuration .

Thanks and Regards
