Dear All,

Can anybody educate on CIFING of master data(2ndary).

Case: We have defined critical materilas ind CIFed to APO. Now revisiting the same we have removed some of material frm critical material list by making them PD.

1) Now problem is that we have already CIFED material master to APO although we changed MRP Type it is still occouring in APO. How Should we remove them from APO? Or they be requried in system?

2) Will Deltatransfer help in this case?

3) While planning in optimizer we select planning for all products from all plants, so presence of this materials in APO will affect any performance problems?

Please help..

points will be awarded for correct answer,

Thanks,

Hi Sunil,

Your question is bit confusing to read through. Here is the restated queries.

1. Critical materials have been CIFed to APO by setting MRP Type as X0 (?). Now some of these materials are being removed by setting MRP Type as PD in R/3 or ECC. What is the process to remove these materials from APO.

2. Will Delta Transfer help in removing the products from APO.

3. While executing Optimiser where planning for all products from all plants will these materials in APO have any performance problems.

Since you have changed the MRP Type from X0 (assumed) to PD for certain materials AND you have Integration Models defined for products of MRP Type X0 (also assumed), the products will not automatically get deleted in APO. In fact they will remain there and any planning (like Optimiser run) will consider these products. This can result in performance issues.

But more importantly in APO due to planning you are creating transaction data (like Planned Orders and/or Purchase Requisitions) which cannot be transferred to R/3 or ECC (assuming the corresponding transaction data integration models have selection criteria for products of MRP Type as X0). As a result the data between APO and ECC or R/3 will be inconsistent and lead to confusion (if not bigger problems).

Delta transfer will not help in removal of the products from APO simply because the changes (that is what Delta Transfer is for) if any cannot be transferred to APO via CIF as there is no active integration model. If you have generated the integration model and activated then these products which have been switched from X0 to PD will drop off from the active integration model.

So what can you do to remove the products from APO. It may make sense to delete from APO. The process would be manual and bit time-consuming.

First you have to make sure there is no more transaction data associated with the product-location combinations. If it is there review if its correct (to be there in APO) and delete the data. Then delete any other master data tied to the products like Product-specifc Transportation Lanes, Procurement Relationships, PPMs. Then set the deletion flag in the Product Master (Prodct >> Flag for Deletion) and execute the deletion job (Extras >> Delete Products) from Product Master txn /SAPAPO/MAT1.

In case you want to retain the products in APO (hoping they will become critical in future) and just stop planning in APO check if the SDP relevance indicator in Product Master is useful to you. This will stop planning only in DP and SNP.

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

somnath
