transport Path between two different system.

we are currently doing Reimplementation of our 4.6C to ECC 6.0. I have

very funny question :

Is it possible to create transport path from 4.6C system to ECC 6.0

system ?

If yes then is it possible to move (transport) some configuration from

4.6c to ECC 6 ?

our 4.6c is non unicode and ECC 6.0 is unicode system and also we have

informix in 4.6c while our ECC 6 is installed on DB6 database.

Please reply as soon as possible.

HI Nish

You are upgrading your R/3 4.6c to ECC6 with Unicode version on different system. it means there are number of steps performing to bring the system upto to the ECC6 with the unicode & with the different database.

Are you going to upgrade all your application layer or only to upgrade the production server ?

during the transport your request without upgrading the complete landscape. inconsistencies can arise

Hello Nish,

When you do a normal upgrade process it doesn't ask for new TMS configuration.

Here it looks to me you need to do a Database migration as well.

As your 4.6C is on Informix and you are planning to have DB6 as DB for ECC 6.0.

I hope you need to migrate whole of your informix to DB 6 first then you have start the upgrade so everything will be in sync.

I hope this process should help you.

Hi,

You are very correct, when ever we upgrade our system (in your case 4.6c to ECC 6.0) no need to re-configure the transport management system.

But you will not upgrade all the DEV, QAS and PRD systems at once. So once you have upgraded your DEV system to ECC 6.0 you can not do transports from DEV to QAS.

In order to over come these problems. Have a temporary 4.6c DEV system in the loop. So that you can avoid upcoming problems. Now you upgrade the QAS box and so on.

More over the database should be common in all the landscapes i.e., DEV, QAS and PRD.
