very Good morning.
This is chaitanya...I want to know how to attach a word document to a sales order...so that whenever we open that sales order, we can view that information saved as attachment.

Hi Krishna.,
we can attach a word doccument in the sales order in VA02,below the menu bar on the top left there is service for object,click on that and you can make your attachments here

for this requirement go to sales document and find the service for object icon exactly bellow command menu , and then attach the document , but this option is not available in 5.0 and 6.0 versions. but 4.7 version it is available.for this u have to do some settings :
Go to VA02
Select drop down menu System>User Profile> Own data
Go to Tab- Parameter. enter parameter ID-SD_SWU_ACTIVE & Parameter value X
Save. now u will get an attachment icon in top left of screen on sales order screen when u go to VA02. click this and u can attach MS word, Excel or Auto cad documents

Enable Document Management System (DMS)
Create DMS Relevant Order Types
Allow the DMS Relevant Order Types as relevant for SD
Open Sale Order VA02
Click Extras > Documents > Pop Up Window comes up
Select the relavant Document Type in the column titled Document Type
Select the relavant Document allowed for the selected Document Type in the step above
Click Continue
Save the Sale Order VA02

Hi chaitanya,
U can find DMS in IMG/ cross application components/Document management.
here U can config the document types and other settings.Main important thing is to maintain the object link to document type. assign VBAK sales document header to document type of document management system.
After configuration, create a document with defined document type of document management system. T. code cv01n.
maintain short text
maintain superior document type
now assign a word or any other legacy document byb clickin create original icon in originals tab.
go to object link tab,enter sales document no. in the sales document object link tab.
save the document.
go to change mode of sales document u have entered in Document managent,
Extras/documents.
u can find the document assigned in document management system in this sales order.

In the sales order display menu, System----Services for the object, when clicked, a window will come.
The window has a link which when clicked will enable you to link attachments.
You can explore that option. If the services are not enabled , thenyou need to take the help of Basis team to enable the same.
