hi,

what is the difference between value mapping ,fixvalues and message mapping.

Hi

Message mapping is nothing but graphical mapping. Source and target message types are mapped by graphical functions provided.

Value mapping and fixvalues are conversion function. Both of them can be used as look up tables.. lets have a example if you have a source field country which can have country name but in target you want to have codes for these countries. for example for australia in source you want AUS at target . similarly india should be IND, Germany as GER . for supporting this type of look up you can use value mapping as well as fix value

Now the difference is in fixvalues look up table is defined in IR where as in value mapping look up table is maintained in ID

Value mapping can be used again say in different mapping by having same party and agency. But fixvalues cannot be reused.
