SAP Content Server 6.40 on 32 or 64 bit OS?

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if SAP Content Server 6.40 on NW 2004s with MaxDB 7.6 will run on Windows 2003 64 or 32 bit? I have installed in on a x64 bit 2003 server now, but there seems to be some issues. For starters, I get the following error message when I try to run "http://<hostname>:<portno.>/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo" as part of the post-processing when installing SAP Content Server 6.40:

%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Thomas,

I Installed it on Windows 2003 Standard Edition (32 bit), without any issues, just by following the installation guide.

Thanks! Have you heard of anyone running Content Server on 64 bit?

Do you by chance have any documentation on how to set up the content repositories?

Unfortunatetly I haven't seen one in 64 bit running...

To configure the content repository follow

Hello,

Currently, SAP Content Server do not support on Windows 64 bit system.

Please install on 32 bit system.

SAP CONTENT SERVER 6.40 -> MAXDB -> <WINDOWS SERVER... >:

MAXDB 7.6 WINDOWS SERVER 2003/IA32 32BIT

Hi,

It is realy so that from 08.04.2008 ContentServer is on x64 Windows platform available.

You can download this from SAP Marketplace now. I installed it and it's work.

at Support Packages and Patches -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 -> Entry by Component -> Content Server

I still can find only the Windows Server on IA32 32bit - do have a link where you found the Windows Version for IA64 ?

Hello Kai,

You kann find this under SAP Marketplase->Download->SAP Installation & Upgrades

that "Search for Installation and Upgrade" and type simpl "Content Server".

You will get a list from 8 items the item 7 is what you are looking for . This is a "CD" nr. 50088654_2.

This download has an Installation for AMD64.

You should use some triks to install it, because the SAPINST for x64 has no Content Server installation.

Simply rename the folder AMD64 into i386 and use SAPINST from I386 NW Master.

I have allredy installed. It works. You need to Install MAXDB x64 befor.

It is very pitty but I did not find any Instalation Guides about x64.

Hello Vladimir,

thank you for this trick. I was looking for the x64 verison a while.

One question: Do you know if it's possible only to install the DB instance on a existing MaxDB instance?

For example I installed a NW2004s SR2/MaxDB on x64. (ABAP+JAVA) and I want to add the Contenct Server on the same machine, but when I install, the Content Server Installation is messing up my existend NW2004s database, even when the same DB install source is used.

I am trying to install SAP Content Server 6.40 on WIN 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5.

Please let me know is SAP CS 6.40 is compatible with WIN 2008 R2 and IIS 7.5

As in PAM the have not mentioned WIN 2008 R2 and IIS 7.5

In windows it's only support ed by 32-bit. Please see http://service.sap.com/PAM :

Content Server 6.40:

WINDOWS SERVER 2000/IA32 32BIT Released 21.03.2007

WINDOWS SERVER 2003/IA32 32BIT Released 06.06.2006

64-bit version only available for Unix/Linux environment
