Schedule Line Category:

An indicator that allows each schedule line to be controlled differently.

The schedule line category influences how such functions as inventory management, material requirements planning and availability check are performed for each schedule line.

Scheduling Agreement:

A scheduling agreement is an outline purchase agreement against which materials or services are procured on predefined dates over a certain period.

The total quantity of a material to be delivered that is specified in an item of a scheduling agreement can be broken down into a series of partial quantities with individual delivery dates, which are set out in the lines of a delivery schedule.

You issue scheduling agreement releases to your vendor to inform him of your forthcoming requirements as at a certain date.

Hope it helps

Dear Cpdatt,

schedule line agreement is another name for scheduling agreement. And the scheduling agreement is a special sales document category to reflect the delivery process in the supplier industry. Scheduling agreements contains of header, items, delivery schedules and schedule lines (in every delivery schedule).

Scheduling agreements in difference to the standard orders have some special properties concerning the determination of the schedule line categories in delivery schedules.

The main different of schedule line category determination in the order and in the scheduling agreement is the following one. In the scheduling agreements you can have different delivery schedule types (forecast, JIT, planning schedule) and in dependance on your "MRP for DS type" (VBAK-ABDIS) and in dependance on JIT horizon date, you can have up to 4 different schedule line categories in the scheduling agreement simultaneously:

- relevant for deliveries and requirements

- relevant only for deliveries

- relevant only for requirements

- relevant neither for deliveries nor for requirenments (pure info).

In difference to the sales order in the scheduling agreement the system first determines relevance of the schedule line for requirements and relevance for deliveries, and then assign the corresponding schedule line category to the schedule line. You have no chance to change it manually (as it would be in the case of standard order). In Customizing you must have all 4 schedule line categories, as indicated above, ordered to the scheduling agreement item.

It is the main difference.

I hope, this info helps you a little bit further.

Kind regards,

P.S. All said above is valid only for scheduling agreements with delivery schedules (VBAK-ABDIS isd not INITIAL). I hoper, you mean these agreements in your question.

hai,

schedule line category:

schedule line category contains delivery dates and quantities as well as requirmnets transfers and inventory management. They are a pre-requisite for a delivery material. the following are the characteristics of a schedule line categories:

1. goods movement

2. delivery relevance

3.purchasing.

4. availability check.

5.Tor.

6.incompletion log.

scheduline category determination= itemcategoyr group+mrp type.

scheduling aggrement:

it ia an outline aggrement that a buisness has with the customer, to deliver quantities upon pre-defined schelues, which are entered as schedule lines , as and when schedulelines are due ,the quantities are automatically delivered.

the difference is that schedule lines category controls the quantities and dates as well performs many other functions such as availability check & Tor in sales documents visa-vis the schedule line aggrements are outline aggrement type

which has only delivery schedules of the customer which are enterd as schedule lines

Hi,

Schedule line agrreement is a document which contains multiple line scchedule lines. This is used when customer has an agreement with the company that the stock should be sent on particular delivery dates.

(1) - Schedule agreements allow you to have 2 different sets of schedule lines (VBEP-ABART). Standard SAP you should have two sets of tabs - of schedule lines. One Forecast & the other JIT. Forecast forwards the schedule lines to planning (seen in MD04) and JIT passes them to shipping (VL10). They can be identical or different. Typically these are used for component supplier customers (namely Automotive). The customer will provide you 4-10 weekly buckets (usually a

Monday date) of future forecast qtys. Also send you 1-2 weeks of individual FIRM ship dates - which are entered on the JIT. It comes down to the customer not knowing exactly what they need next week, but they don't want to suprise you with a large order qty, where your lead times are 5+ days. The forecasted qtys they sent last week should account for this.

EX MAT A 100 30/6

MAT A 50 6/7

MAT A 250 10/7.

Using the DS Doc type we will save the schedule agreement such that on that particular day we need to deliver the order by using the number(Number generated when u save the scheduling agreement)

where as schedule line says only the confirmed quantity and delivery dates.
