Backup with DB13 and BR*Tools

Former Member

Hi!

I have successfully installed SAP Solution Manager (on Windows) and would like to implement the approapriate Backup-approach.

I would like to plan the following strategy:

daily (at night): whole database backup

daily: incremental backup

daily: 4 times in hour: Log backup

All the backups should be writen not to a tape but to an external media (e.g. is accesible over ftp to an share-folder
NAS_STOR\SAP with user and password).

<b>Now my question: how can I realize this with Tr. DB 13?

Should I do any adjustments in init<SID>.sap (e.g. set backup_dev_type)?

What is about BR*TOOLS?</b>

<i><b>Thank you very much for any helpful information that will be rated with points from me, especially the whole approach in details.

;)</b></i>

Regards

Hi Axel,

You have to schedule your back up plan in DB13 transaction as like you want.

Set parameter backup_dev_type= disk, once complition of backup you can ftp to whereever you want.

you can set this parameter using brtools or in OS level directly.

you can monitor all backups using tr db12.

also the user SAPServiceSID should be member of this folder
NAS_STOR\SAP ., that means u shud give full permission for this user in NAS device

Ok!

Thank you!

And what is about the parameter <b>stage</b> in the file init<DBSID>.sap, and especially <b>stage_root_dir</b>.

The question still is, how can I protect, that everyone working with SAP and appropriate authorizations for DB13 can execute Backup on the external media.

I mean it should be possible the protect such issues with user and password of
NAS_STOR\sap...

Thank you!

Hi,

GIve permission for sidadm and sapservicesid for that folder its enough

Give these parameters in initsid.sap

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_root_dir = H:\sapbackup (aasuming u have mapped
NAS_STOR to local hdd)

archive_copy_dir = H:\sapbackup

Hi!

First of all I was setting the

backup_dev_type=stage

remote_host = on the appropriate host

remote user name = <SAPSID>adm

archive_stage_dir = e.g. Test

<b>Unfortunately I do not have access, wthether in DB13 "access denied" nor in BR*TOOLS.

You say I should check whether SAPService<SAPSID> should have the access to the directory Test. But I am logging as <SAPSID>adm and can avoid it through the parameter remote user name. Is it correct?</b>

Thank you
