Hi all
Can anybody say What is goods movement?
regards
ipsit
If in the business goods are being moved from one storage loacation another, one plant to another etc., then there a way to map this process using the movement type. The movement types are regularly used for goods movement in SAP. Depending on the module there are movement types, and movement types are used in MM, SD, PP, WHM etc. Modules.
Using movement types the MM-Fi integration occurs as each movement type is associated with G/L account. Sample Movement Types:
561 - Receipt per initial entry of stock balances into unrestricted use.
601- goods issue : delivery
645 - Inter company replenishment etc.
Hope I was able to answer your question.
Regards
AK

Dear Ispit,
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/a5/63317943a211d189410000e829fbbd/content.htm">Goods Movement</a> : Transaction resulting in a change in stock.
Goods receipt
A goods receipt (GR) is a goods movement with which the receipt of goods from a vendor or from production is posted. A goods receipt leads to an increase in warehouse stock.
Goods issue
A goods issue (GI) is a goods movement with which a material withdrawal or material issue, a material consumption, or a shipment of goods to a customer is posted. A goods issue leads to a reduction in warehouse stock.
Stock transfer
A stock transfer is the removal of material from one storage location and its transfer to another storage location. Stock transfers can occur either within the same plant or between two plants.
Transfer posting
A transfer posting is a general term for stock transfers and changes in stock type or stock category of a material. It is irrelevant whether the posting occurs in conjunction with a physical movement or not. Examples of transfer postings are:
Transfer postings from material to material
Release from quality inspection stock
Transfer of consignment material into company's own stock

Goods Movement can be of different types, which are controled through Movement Type. Goods Movement can take place within the Plant through Transfer Posting using T.Code: MB1B. Example of within the plant can be considered as stock moving from one storage location to another, which could be for production / assembling or despatching the material in same form from another storage location. It could also be for transfering Material within Plant after Quality check.
Incase of SD, we use movement type 601 to despatch material to end customer.
Goods movement takes place in case of Stock transfer from one plant to another or one plant to depot or one depot to another or intercompany stock transfer, etc.
Hope the above information is of some use.
