WELL AM GURUS,

I STUCK IN SMARTFORMS FOR THE WHILE CAUSE STILL I DID'T GET OF WHAT IS BASIC FUNCTION OF INPUT PARAMETER AND

OUTPUT PARAMERES SMART FORMS.

which type of data shud be passed in that parameters in smf.

AND ALSO WHATS A BASIC DIFFERENCE IN SELECT SINGLE,SELECT *,SELECT UP TO 1 rows.

Hi Amit,

The export parameters and Import parameters are similar to normal function module export and import parameters.

In this case the export and Import will happen from the print program.

Please remember that activation of smartform creates function module.

So these export and import parameters are used to pass the data from and to the Print program.

Select single is to select one field from a DB table.

eg: select single belnr from bkpf where...

select * is to select all the fields from a DB table.

select up to N rows .. is to select up to N no. of rows which matches the selection criteria.

select up to 10 rows.... selects only first 10 rows in the DB table which satisfies the where condition.

Difference Between Select Single and Select UpTo One Rows

According to SAP Performance course the SELECT UP TO 1 ROWS is faster than SELECT SINGLE because you are not using all the primary key fields.

select single is a construct designed to read database records with primary key. In the absence of the primary key, it might end up doing a sequential search, whereas the select up to 1 rows may assume that there is no primary key supplied and will try to find most suitable index.

The best way to find out is through sql trace or runtime analysis.

Use "select up to 1 rows" only if you are sure that all the records returned will have the same value for the field(s) you are interested in. If not, you will be reading only the first record which matches the criteria, but may be the second or the third record has the value you are looking for.

The System test result showed that the variant Single * takes less time than Up to 1 rows as there is an additional level for COUNT STOP KEY for SELECT ENDSELECT UP TO 1 ROWS.

The 'SELECT SINGLE' statement selects the first row in the database that it finds that fulfils the 'WHERE' clause If this results in multiple records then only the first one will be returned and therefore may not be unique.

The 'SELECT .... UP TO 1 ROWS' statement is subtly different. The database selects all of the relevant records that are defined by the WHERE clause, applies any aggregate, ordering or grouping functions to them and then returns the first record of the result set.

1. Create a new smartforms

Transaction code SMARTFORMS

Create new smartforms call ZSMART

2. Define looping process for internal table

Pages and windows

First Page -> Header Window (Cursor at First Page then click Edit -> Node -> Create)

Here, you can specify your title and page numbering

&SFSY-PAGE& (Page 1) of &SFSY-FORMPAGES(Z4.0)& (Total Page)

Main windows -> TABLE -> DATA

In the Loop section, tick Internal table and fill in

ITAB1 (table in ABAP SMARTFORM calling function) INTO ITAB2

3. Define table in smartforms

Make used of the Table Painter and declare the Line Type in Tabstrips Table

e.g. HD_GEN for printing header details,

You have to specify the Line Type in your Text elements in the Tabstrips Output options.

Tick the New Line and specify the Line Type for outputting the data.

Declare your output fields in Text elements
