Hi to everyone:
Well I'm starting in the fantastic SAP world, and I want to install NW 2004s, but i HAve few doubts for the successfully installation of it, well my doubts are:
1. Which file systems do I have to make for a central system.
2. Where in the swdc I had to download the discs for HP-UX - Oracle, because I'm trying to find in Entry Application -> NetWeaver 2004s , but I only see the installation for Windows.
3. What's a cluster.
4. Some good recommendations befor the installation.
Thanks
Hi,
Plz. throughly read the Installation guide . Note down the IMP points like...DB and OS dependencies, and parameters settings, check all the prerequisites.
There will be like Pre Installation Activities and Post Installation Activities in the Installguide just follow it.

Hi ms,
The cluster definition you provided is very narrow and only refers to disk hardware. I recommend wikipedia:
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_cluster">Computer Cluster</a>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_%28file_system%29">Cluster (file system)</a>
Best Regards,
Matt
Hi Joel,
1. The necessary file systems are shown in the Installation Guide(s). See http://service.sap.com/instguides.
2. The available downloads in swdc are based upon your company's license. It seems your license is only for Windows, not HP-UX.
3. The word Cluster is used throughout technologies with different meanings. There are at least three Clusters!
-- Hardware Cluster
Clustering is provided by hardware, which means redundant and/or special equipment i.e., a Switch-Over Environment usually consists out of two or more separated machines (nodes) forming a HW cluster.
-- Software Cluster
Clustering is provided by software, which means no special hardware involved i.e. SAP NetWeaver Application Server with all its instances is a software cluster
-- Database Cluster
Something completely different: ONE of the possible ways to make a database Highly Available
4. Not sure what you mean here...
Best Regards,
Matt
