Data storage and SPP

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for additional info about the SPP data storage concept.

I have a few questions...

Is it possible to access SPP transactional data via common SCM planning books? How can I extract SPP data to an InfoCube?

What are the functions of TDL in SPP? How does TDL correspond with LiveCache?

Hi Mikalai,

While I cannot answer your questions you can check SAP Note 913863 Composite note for TDL.

As far as I understand TDL (Transaction Data Layer) is a layer containing business objects used to manage data in different application components. While earlier in APO (and SCM) liveCache was the primary type of data management, there are newer business objects like TSDM (Time Series Data Management), ODM (Order Document Management), LIME (Logistics Inventory Management Engine) specific to different application components in SCM (like SPP, EWM and to some extent ICH). So TDL may be a layer above liveCache or similar to it considering it is used to manage data in TSDM, ODM and LIME.

SPP transactional data is stored primarily in TSDM. In SCM 5 there is an option Settings for TSDM in Planning Area administration. But I have not tried it out. So I am not sure if SPP transactional data will be visibile via common SCM Planning Books (assuming Interactive Demand and Supply Planning).

Extracting SPP data to an Infocube - it should be possible. Again I do not have handson experience in that. Not sure if the Planning Service "Storage Service" (STORAGE_SERVICE) is meant for that.

Thanks,

Somnath

PS: Visu guess I have answered your queries partly also.
