Stop forecast on obsolete product

Hi All:

Any idea how to take care of material in DP/BW which get obsolete over the time. I mean how to set it obsolete so that the system no longer generates its forecast.

Thank you

Sadat

Ideally you need to realign the appropriate CVC(s) so that they are no longer there e.g. name the product characteristic value as "DUMMY" "OBSOLETE" and make sure your data selection for Statistical Forecast run (and other batch jobs etc.) has that value in exclusion condition.

Alternatively if you have used 9AMATNR and have maintained Product master you can look at using the SDP Relevance indicator under Others section in Properties tab in Product Master.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Somnath

Have you defined any navigational attribute for the material chanracteristic...for example material status. Then you can set the obsolete status and change the selection for the statistical forecasting screen.

Also if you are forecasting at a level, higher than the product, then you will need to set the disaggregation factor as "zero" for this obsolete product. That way the forecast will not disaggregate to the obsolete product.

Kedar,

as a standard SAP recommends to use the lifecycle management funtionality. Just maintain a proper phase-out-profile and assign it to the obsolete CVCs. By this CVCs will stay in the system (for visibility) but no stat. forecast will be created from the point of time defined in the phase-out-profile.

Alternatively you can delete CVCs directly when they become obsolete.

We do that, because forecast data have already been saved in an external BW system for reporting. By this, you will keep your DP clean.

cheers
