Access to BRTools, two sap-systems, one Oracle-Home

Hi all,

We ve installed ERP2005 and the SolutionManager 4.0 on one server.

I want to handle the brtools also for the SolutionManager. But when I access BRTools, I only can administrate the ERP-System.

How can I access to the BRTools of the SolutionManager-System? The Oracle- Home is the same than ERP.

Thanks,

Petra

change ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID for each SIDADM users to proper values. then login with proper username before using BRTOOLS.

Eric, depending on your configuration this may not be enough.

The problem is that you need to create additional Oracle database accounts (for connect / as sysdba|sysoper) and maintain group membership for ORA_<SID>_DBA and ORA_<SID>_OPER for cross user administration.

Even then SAPDATA* environment varialbles are pointing to the wrong places.

Therefore it is much less error error-prone to use the users which have been created by the installation with the right setup/environment

Lets say you have to systems SOL and ERP.

use soladm for administrating sol

use erpadm for administrating erp

Peter, you are right, that's why I said:

login with proper username before using BRTOOLS.

Dear Petra,

I assume you're using two seperate DB instances but only one Oracle Home.

If that's the case then I'm sorry to tell you that this is not supported by SAP.

The background here is: what if you install a patchset or a patch? There will always be both instances be affected.

With that setup you introduce an additional dependency into the already complex system maintenance.

So recommendation is: keep both systems as much independent as possible.

Install a second Oracle Home.

it is and was ever support on Windows.

This is also documented in the Windows / Oracle installations guides of our products.

Hi Peter,

you're right - Windows is the exception (as usual...)

Thanks for completing this.
