ORA-00278: log file '/oracle/.......dbf' no longer needed for recovery

Hi,

Please could you guys clarify this for me ?

I am restoring a database and roll foward it using recovery database using controlfile until cancel.

Oracle asks me for some archivelogs and then says that:ORA-00278: log file '/oracle/........dbf' no longer needed

for this recovery

Can I go ahead with the recovery or there is something wrong ?

Hello,

you can go ahead to the next logfile, this message means this logfile was processed and no longer needed. You use 'until cancel', so you have to cancel the recovery when the last logfile which you want to use is processed.

I got to this conclusion by myself as I had to go ahead with the recovery.

Did u given the required archivelog for the recovery..?
